                  VALUES

What are they?

The Canadian Mental Health Association identified the six key components of wellness, and one of them is having a sense of self and knowing who you are. This is where values come in.

Our values are like an internal compass. That compass is trying to give us hints every moment of every day to stay on the path that is meant for you. It is trying to align you with the things that matter most to you in who you want to BE and what you want to DO.

When you feel joy…it is likely because you are living in alignment with your values. When you feel frustrated or blah…it is likely because you are not honoring or someone else is stomping on your values.

Why does it matter?

I think we have bought into this “BAD DAY” mentality and it is not serving us well. We all have bad moments, but we don’t all need to have bad days. Knowing your values is what changes that. Being aware of what your top values are is the surest way to course correct when life feels off.

I was 37 years old when I found my top values, and it changed everything! I realized that I was living my life on a hamster wheel. Waking up, racing through life without intention, going to bed at night and realizing that I had to do the same thing all over again the next day. It felt exhausting and blah! Knowing my values changed that completely.

My top values are:

Authenticity

Balance

Connection

Gratitude

Humor

Health

Learning

Organization

Optimism

Understanding

Legacy

How do I practice it?
